Broody Buff Orpington?

I have a small Buff hen, I got her the end of march this year as a chick, making her about 5 months old. She just started laying eggs 2 weeks ago, I found her yesterday sitting on a small nest of 4 eggs, hiding in the shade. Should she be going "broody" already? I took the eggs as we have no Roo's and replaced them with some fakes. She sat there let me pet her and take the eggs. Before this she wouldn't let me get more than 2 feet from her, now she comes up and let me pet her before running off to forage.

It may be, or she may just be laying there because she likes that nest better. Watch to see if she molts her stomach feathers.
