One of our buffs has been broody for a little over a week. She has a ridiculous amount of eggs under her- I was planning on moving her tonight to a separate coop so no one else would lay in her clutch.

I went out tonight and she’s not sitting in her eggs. She’s definitely broody. She screams at me and tries to peck when in reach for her during the day.

I did move some of her eggs earlier this evening when she was out of her nest getting some food.

She had 23 eggs 🤦🏼‍♀️ I moved about 8 to the coop I was planning on moving her to.

I’m not sure how long she’s been off and now I’m concerned she’s not sitting on them at night- but she’s definitely there all day, I check her multiple times a day.

I’m not sure which of our buffs is the broody one or is just find her and put her on the eggs in the other coop.

We are in central FL.

This is our 2nd broody hen- this was not an issue with the other mama.

should we trash the eggs? ☹️

Were the eggs could when you found them?

I would candle them. Its not a good idea to move her when she is sitting on them. Moving her is a really risky action as some birds quit. Its important to note that broody behavior is caused by hormones and they can break from broodiness if; they are broken or it, if they are moved, if they are naive, etc.

I have a buff also doing this! She would sit all day and then get off at night. I didn't know she was getting off at night for probably 3 nights. I just pulled the eggs to candle but it's only beenb3 days so I couldn't see anything but the eggs were cold so I figured they weren't gonna be any good. Sure enough I crackedcracked them open and they had maybe a day or 2 of development and had stopped. Idk what to do about my broody girl... I had really hoped to hatch some olive eggers from my welsummer girls eggs.
