Broody Chicken eating eggs, actually any chicken

I am wondering about a silkie hen that we have sitting on eggs, I gather that it is okay to encourage her to eat? and I am wondering if it would be good to give her some egg yolk from some egg white omelettes that I made my daughters for dinner? It makes me feel wierd to give them eggs? The yolks are raw, dont want to encourage anyone to eat their own eggs, but its okay for them to eat the shells and all?

You don't need to encourage her to eat - she eats when she needs to, provided you have feed available.

You can feed her COOKED eggs as a treat/boost. Shells mixed in are fine, I do this frequently. I would not reccomend feeding raw eggs ever - you don't want them getting used to that taste!
