One of my leghorns is broody- she won't get out of the nesting box unless I physically remove her. This didn't concern me until late last week. I noticed that one of the chickens laid an egg in the coop, not in the nesting box. Since then, I haven't had more than 1of the 5 chickens laying per day. They've gone through cycles like this before, but I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the brooding? And how can I get the brooding to wrap up? I don't want to keep them out of the coop, and I tried keeping the nesting box open, but she's sitting like her life depends on it!
