i have 3 baby chics from the incubator and soon after i had a broody chicken. now new chicks could come in a few weeks. I have several questions. The broody chicken is a silkie and she is smaller than the rest of the flock. Her sister had a horrible demise while being broody. something ate threw my fensing and she didn't survive. I saved her eggs and they are now in the incubator. so now I have 2 in the incubator and my other silkie is sitting on 6. If i am lucky enough to get little chics should i separate them after hatching and put mom and babies in another enclosure. don'want to move her now as she has been sitting for over 2 weeks.

I hope you get a good hatch rate. I generally separate the hen and new chicks for 1-2 weeks to give them time to bond and to the chicks time to gain strength.

Just bought a small coop so they can have some space! It is not a coop that i would put my big girls in but should do for the new family!
