broody chicken

I think my chicken has gone broody. The problem is I had to get rid of my rooster because he was mean and now my chicken wants babies and the eggs are no longer fertilized. Can she sit on those eggs for a few days till I get another rooster? I have moved the eggs out from under her but the next day when my other chickens laid there eggs she went back sitting on those. I feel bad for her because my daughter saw her turning the eggs but there isn't any chicks. I don't want to discourage her from being broody. What should I do?

Many of my hens don't sit on any eggs when they're broody. You can let her sit on those eggs, or you can take them and wait until you get some fertile eggs. You can also get some young chicks and stick them under her at night, if you don't want to wait
