)My two cochins have been broody for three weeks. { I do not have a rooster } Tomorrow I am planning to pick up 4 or 5 baby cochins chicks from the feed store. I would like to try to place the new chicks under the hens with hopes that they will accept them as their own. Will it work? How do I do it? I have never done this before. Do I try it in the evening? What about the other 4 chickens in the coop, do I need to section them away from the chicks? Help.

I'd think that nighttime woudl be best so that they awaken & go "oh, look at my babies that hatched over night!".

I'd also keep the other hens away from the chicks until "momma" adopts them officially.

yes you need to seperate them, unless you have a very large coop, put the babies under her at night ,if she is clucking she will take them
