I have A duck named Pebbles. She is somewhat broody. I say somewhat bc I have started working the process out of her. I moved her location at night from one area to another. They sleep inside in a protective area in the house. I put her in our room with one other companion and she was fine at night quiet down. No more eggs appeared that night but now I put her outside and she is a bit vocal like a bit unsettled. She bathe and swam and I gave her food and she ate but I need her ti calm down. The neighborhood is not too friendly if you know what I mean. I think the routine so far will work but I wanted to know how long do they stay acting this way. I had one that went on for a while even if there were no eggs. She is fine now but it took a long time. Her name is Pollito and she is a Muscovy this one is a Pekín, the girls honk when they get excited. I read the cage thing but I do not want to go there as I don’t think it’s that bad. Any other tips? Thank you I appreciate the help. Have a great day. Pebbles mommy

Being broody means there's been a hormonal shift. A bird will stay broody until their hormones return to 'normal'. My chicken hens will be broody for up to 6 weeks sitting on nothing, and we currently have Muscovy girls on infertile eggs that have been broody for 8+ weeks.

Both Muscovy and Pekin are broody ducks so this won't be the last time Pebbles is likely to go broody.

Thank you for your reply. Pebbles was great all yesterday outside with the others. Quiet yet at dusk she started that weird acting thing. Honking and wanting to go inside, I did bring them in and she calm down ate and sat and sleep. She was normal up until night fall. Here it was about 6:05 pm. I am happy she is eating and did swim yesterday so God willing it will be the same today. I will let you know. Again thank you for your reply.
