Don't know whether anyone will answer as the last post I've seen on here about broody ducks is from 2010 but worth a try.

I have 6 ducks, 1 white campbell which is the oldest, 1 cayuga, 2 khaki campbells & 2 welsh harlequins which are the youngest. We started noticing that one of our welsh harlequins kept hissing at us and opening her mouth really wide when we were going into the pen to change their water or feed them but she would run away from us if we walked towards her, a few days afterwards when I opened the nesting box, there she was sat on all of the other ducks eggs as they all sleep and lay together, however she did not lay one of her own, she then hissed at me and made herself look bigger by puffing her feathers out but I simply picked her up and put her out of the nesting box hole and off she went. After a few days she stopped sitting on them but I still had a nest shape in the box and she continued to hiss at us but we think shes got a bit of an attitude problem ahaa.

we only had 5 ducks then and decided to get another one which was the cayuga, we've had her for a few months now and shes started doing it too, she will sit on the other ducks eggs and not lay one of her own, we can tell as her egg is a different colour to the others. I collect the eggs everyday as I've always done. She will hiss when I open the lid and again puff herself out to make her look bigger but I just simply push her out and pick up all the eggs as well as move all the sawdust around. She is different to the welsh harlequin however as the welsh harlequin never went back into the nesting box but the cayuga does, makes a nest shape again and just sits there with no eggs underneath her but again hisses when you open the lid, we've tried closing the opening to the nest box but it didn't work as the box didn't air out enough and was still wet when they had to go in, can't open the lid fully either as we have a jack russell that likes trying to jump in there, we also can't shut the pen door as the food and water are in there, so were stuck for ideas.

When mine do this and I don't want them to sit[brood] I just collect the eggs and let it run it's course. if you left the eggs long enough one of your ducks may go broody then again they may just be going through the motions since it appears broodiness has been bred out of some ducks. Depending on their ages usually around 5-6 months old when they start laying their own eggs, If yours aren't laying and your worried you may want to lock them up in separate place to make sure that they are or aren't. I have tried in the past to break my Muscovy's when they go broody but it is really a losing battle, Once those broody hormones kick in it's just better to take the eggs and let it run it's course.
