Broody eating eggs

This happened to me once and I was told[not by a professional) that she was hormonal and lacking in something in her diet. I started cracking eggs over her food and mixed it .shells and all, and placed it right by her nest. Surprisingly this seemed to work and she has been successful since. I don't know if my info was correct or not but it did seem to work. I have not had that issue since to test my solution.
