today i got kind of happy when i saw my wheaton OEGB act broody on 5 eggs... she even screamed when other chickens got near her... so i fed, and she didn't get up at all for anything... cool... but then later that day, i saw her get out and she never sat back down on those eggs... i felt them and they were pretty warm...

does that mean that these eggs don't work anymore...? i really have to get on the ball in taking them out... tomorrow i'll go buy some plastic eggs... they're cheaper than golfballs around here... LOL...

is this common...¿ i don't know how old she is, i figure she's an '10...

False alarms with broodies is pretty common. I've had them acting real broody but not go through with it. My rule is after they spend two straight nights on the nest, they are trusted with eggs. Until they spend two straight nights on the nest instead of on their regular roost, they are not to be trusted.
