Broody Silkie wanted to be a Mommy. Since she was such a awesome mom last time I decided to get eggs off eBay of a different kind of breed. While I was waiting for eBay eggs she was sitting on my EE’s eggs (I wanted to see if they were fertile and they ended up not being) for 7 days. So I got the shipped eggs and moved her to a separate divided enclosure. She was upset at first but then sat on eggs.

Today 2 1/2 days later sitting on eBay eggs she decided not to sit on eggs for about 6 hrs. Temps were 60-65. She showed no desire to sit on them anymore. She just paced, groomed herself, ate and wanted back out. So I just opened the enclosure and put the eggs back in the coop in hopes she would change her mind and that it wasn’t too late for them. Broody hen just goes and grooms herself and hangs out with the other chickens. A hour or so later I go back out and she is sitting on the nest again. Sitting but alert ( not dazed like she was last time she was broody).

A hour later I check on her and she is back off the nest and she stays off the nest for the rest of the day.

Night time I check on them and she is sitting on the nest again...

What in the world ...she can’t make up her mind. I figure it’s probably too late for the eggs though temperature was mid 80’s . I’m just keeping my fingers crossed for the ones that I stashed in the incubator.
