Broody Barnavelda eggs hatched on Friday morning. Out of 12 eggs, 10 hatched. 6 silver double laced Barnavelda chicks and 4 Golden Barnavelda double laced chicks. One (GB) yolker, one (GB) quitter.
Waited until this afternoon after slipping quitter under another broody but just candled and can't see any movement.
Good hatch rate on the silvers!
66% on the goldens. Two chicks are very robust and confident - in the enclosed coop but out of the nesting box eating crumble - One silver and one golden (presumed males). The rest are doing well but hen is bringing crumble back into the brood box for them.
Fingers crossed all the retiring chicks are girls though it’s Kaye in the season. I've got a good Barnavelda rooster, so this will be fresh bloodlines to cross!
