So this is the year my husband has agreed to build a larger coop for me. Which really only translates to me.....more chicks! I have 3 cochin hens at the moment. The first hatched 2 of our eggs successfully and now has them out and about. The second I decided to order some silkie eggs of eBay. Only 3 developed from the 9 sent. They are due to hatch this weekend. Last night when I candled all 3 have very misshapen air sacs. I've read that sometimes these need assistance during hatch?? I would really like to not intervene but any advice would be welcome. Thanks!

On a different note my 3rd hen decided she was missing out on something and decided she'd like to be broody as well. Can I give her an egg from my other broody? She will have only been broody for a few days before it hatches. My rooster is so lonely! He's resorted to hanging out with mom and chicks from the first hatch for company.

I would use a quality broody hen over an incubator any day no matter what condition the eggs were in! They will do everything perfectly to get the best hatch. ;)
