For whatever reason, all of my broody's eggs failed to hatch. They were fertile as they were developing, but quit along the way at various points.

I have another broody that is about 4 days into her clutch. Should I love her eggs over to the original broody (so she only has 2-1/2 weeks to go) or just give her new eggs? I am guessing she isn't gonna get off that nest anytime soon. This evening, she has a new friend in her nest box. Possibly a 3rd broody

...we'll have to see if she stays. (We just had a hen hatch 2 chicks 6 weeks ago and another frequently broody hen that is due to go broody again soon!).

You make plenty of sense!! And, of all people, you have a very good excuse to be discombobulated! As always, we are just a phone call away and a short drive down Main Street.

We butchered Broken Toe ~2 weeks ago, so some hens aren't fertile anymore (but the eggs under the broody were there before we got rid of him). But, FishHead, the Faverolle, is definitely trying to make up for lost time from when he was the 2nd in line.

You should see our 6-week-old. A Faverolle roo/BR hen cross! Barred with ear tuffs and feathered legs (incomplete genes). He is really sweet so far, but puberty hasn't kicked in yet either. I think I will try another batch of our eggs, but if they don't work, I may hit you up for some eggs. David's cousin owns a commercial dairy and has decided that he wants laying hens for the family (we were surprised that he grew up on a dairy with other animals and has never had a chicken

). We are gonna hatch hum some chicks and give him the girls in exchange for beef.

FYI...Broken Toe, the big JG that you saw here last time, was too aggressive. He would stalk David and tried to go after two of the neighbor kids. He was too much of a liability for us (as much as we did like him).
