Hi everyone! This thread is a Broody Hen and Incubator Hatch-A-Long that you can post comments, pictures, etc. about eggs your setting/letting your broody hen hatch! Always keep us updated and let us know how your eggs/chicks are doing! This thread does NOT have a date that you have to set your eggs so you can set anytime and always keep posting!! Thanks and Have A Blessed Day!!!

I'm in! I'm setting eggs from my flock this weekend in my DIY incubator. They'll hatch 4/19-4/20. I just can't keep up with reading the Easter Hatch thread. I'm trying to show self constraint and set no more than a dozen this time.
Phily - what and when are you setting yours?

There are a LOT of people on the Easter hatch thread! And I have my incubator with 20 Barnyard Mix eggs that I set 3/19/14. My broody Swedish Flower Hen has 7 Swedish Flower Hen/Barnyard Mix eggs set 3/20/14, and my Miniature Silver Appleyard Duck is laying her eggs getting ready to set! It is hard to try to not set so many!

Sweet! Keep us updated throughout the incubation period! I have always wanted to hatch some French Black Copper Maran eggs.

I love my marans. Last spring I hatched a "marans assortment" of 7 eggs. I ended up with two wheaten pullets and one male, a cuckoo male (I no longer have him), a golden cuckoo male, a black tailed buff male, a blue copper...male. The wheatens were the only two girls, I wish their eggs were darker like the coppers or the btb. They're much easier to candle though!

I imagine they are easier to candle, I stopped candling and just let the eggs incubate. The best way to know if an egg is bad is if it stinks/leaks so I just watch for those!
