I have a frizzle cochin that has been sitting on her eggs for about 12 days now. 30 minutes ago, I was in the coop and she pecked them all open and started eating the insides! I could see the embryo and I don't understand why she had done that.

I know she wasn't hungry because I have food, water, and treats right next to her.

Are you going to give her one more chance to be a hen or the stew pot..

I had a roo to do this...He was in the same cage with my broody twice before and never touched the eggs. Then on the 3rd time of her being broody in the cage he would wait till she came off for food and water and a poo and would go in once a day and take one egg and eat it.

I never figured out the problem I rehomed him soon after I figured out he was the one eating my broodies eggs.

lol! But, my rooster is kept far far away from her and I saw that SHE was the one who ate them. That naughty girl broke them in front of me.

She wouldn't be a very good dinner though. She's a bantam; a very cute one.
