i've got a broody hen that has dark green diarrhea-ish droppings with more solid bits in it that are white and kinda grainy - is this normal? Shes buried herself in our goats hay manger so i'm not sure how often she gets out - today was the first time i've seen her out and i think she's been there about 2 weeks maybe slightly less. at first i thought i had a sick chicken. I noticed another chicken acting really aggressive to her (like when two roosters fight) which was odd and then i noticed she stood weird and was fluffed out. the roosters came over and also acted aggressive and everyone seemed to chase her away. She had several of these droppings and went to drink water. she drank quite a bit water and did more fluffed wings out walking. At first i separated her with some food and water while i tried to figure it all out (5mins or so). i couldn't find anything that sounded like it and then i remembered the broody hen -who can apparently act all fluffy and kinda like a sick bird. so i checked and it was indeed her so i put her back. a couple eggs fell out when see got out and felt cold but others where still warm but not as warm as i thought they would be- i replaced them.... does this all sound normal? growing up it seemed like a chicken would just turn up one day with a hatched brood so i've never seen this before.thanks

all i can say is when my hen was broody she pooped maybe twice a day and it was very large and kind of greenish mostly. just let her do her thing, the hens may bother at her a little especially if shes sitting on a favorite nest spot but should be fine.

She may not be getting enough food. Broody poo is different, but what you descibe sounds like a cross between broody and starving. I give my broody girl a scrambled egg for breakfast. It's a good high protien treat that is irrisistable even in her broody trance state.
