One of my Buff Orpingtons appears to have gone broody. She did the same thing at the exact same time last year.
I have been on a desperate search today for fertile hatching eggs in my area, but I have been unable to find any at all.
I have been thinking that I need to add to my flock as the girls are 2.5 years old. I was going to order some eggs from MPC, but the time frame for getting the eggs here was way too long.
I would love to add a couple of Silver Laced Wyandottes, but would be open to other breeds if I could get them quickly +/- inexpensively.
Thoughts or suggestions for me? Thanks!

Is there somewhere else I should post this?

If you are looking for eggs of specific breeds this may not work out, but I was able to get fertile eggs from my local Health Food Store due to them buying eggs from local flock owners who label the cartons with the names, date, and sometimes phone numbers of the people who own the birds. If a phone number is supplied it would be possible to call the person and ask about their birds. I built a homemade incubator and get interesting looking eggs to hatch by doing this. As long as the cold stored eggs are fertile and are brought to room temperature slowly so condensation doesn't form on the eggs, it shouldn't be a problem. Your local farmer's market might have fertile eggs, too.

I have 12 "Red Sex Link" x "Red Sex Link" eggs incubating (day 13) and the eggs candle with moving embryos.

Interesting idea! Thank you!
I will try searching local farms again to see if I have any luck.
Do you worry about them not being from an NPIP certified farm?
Thanks again!

My hens just went broody and I just posted a wanted hatching(fertile) eggs on craiglist under farm and garden and had about 5 people who had eggs I could buy (very inexpensive)
