I went out to check my broody hen, a black australorp about 1 year old. When I checked the nesting boxes she was laying ON TOP of my other broody hen, a bantam. I have no idea how long she was there (i'm guessing 1-3 hours). When I felt the eggs she was SUPPOSED to be laying on, they were cold. I moved her back but i'm afraid that the chicks died.. this is my second hatch ever. I'm a bit inexperienced so i'm prepared for the worse.. I hope the eggs will be able to pull through.

Should I do anything? Like relocate her? I thought everything was running smoothly, guess I was wrong.

If they were viable to begin with, the eggs should still hatch. Just keep an eye on her to assure that she remains brooding them. Good luck. At this point in the game I would not take the chance on moving her.

I candled them yesterday and they seem to be developing fine, thanks for the reply!
