Hi everyone!
We have a blacktail who laid 12 eggs, kicked out 4 and has incubated the rest up until today. Today the first chick hatched, he took probably 15 hours to hatch. However when we last checked (about 12 hours since first crack) on him he was still in the egg, and the shell was extremely crumbly and soft, he was also peeping. 3 hours later he was out of the egg but was out of the nest dead (it looks like our hen had pecked his head)
. We still have 7 eggs, one with a crack in it. What should we do? I'm assuming we remove the eggs and place them in a brooder to avoid her damaging the remaining eggs or killing/injuring any that do hatch.
Thanks
