I have a broody hen sitting on eggs and this morning when i passed by i heard peeping and clucking from the hen. I peeked into the nest but can't see anything without disturbing her which i didn't want to do. I haven't heard any peeping for quite a while now and no more clucking.. I havent disturbed her..

since i have never done this before I am wondering if she had squished the new chick.. after all why is it so quiet now?

What should i expect from the hatching process?

Ironically i had two hatch in the incubator this morning.. i'm wondering if i can put them under her, but i'll only do that if everything is going normally.

It can take a chick up to 24 hours to hatch and they peep inside the eggs so it could have just been them two bonding when you were walking past. It might have already hatched but now it is sleeping. If it will put yur mind at rest, you can quickly take a sneak peek it wont do any harm.

Well it is still really quiet, no peeping but i saw a tiny head sticking out by her wing, thank you it does put my mind at rest.. it's funny the ones i hatch in the incubator seem to peep endlessly once they have hatched.
