Broody hen help

Hey there everyone, I am going to use broody Silkie hens to hatch my RIR eggs, can I put 2 broody hens together in the same brooding area as long as I have 2 separate nesting boxes for them? Also how many eggs can I put under a broody hen at one time? Thanks

The answer is - it depends. As long as the ladies get along there should not be a problem, they may even pool resources when the chicks hatch. The second question is answered by how many can they comfortably cover? I would imagine 6 would be a good number, but you might be able to stick more under them. Good luck,
