Hey everyone. Recently my cousin had to get rid of his chickens, sadly someone reported him and he isn't allowed to have them in this city (he didn't even have any roos). I took in some, and we slaughtered some. I took two laying hens of his, but before I took them they had been broody for about 35 days sitting on muscovy eggs. Now that they are at my house, they are definately not broody anymore but havent been laying yet. I was wondering when will they start laying again?

I'm glad you could give those hens a new home.

I'm not sure the exact time, but I know that one of my hens tries to go broody three times a year about, and sitting on the eggs and raising the babies takes at least 2 months, so they should start laying in a few weeks.

Hope this helps.

Best of luck!

Did the Muscovy eggs come with her...did they hatch out?
35 days is about the incubation time!

Hens in a new environment can be put off laying for a few days to a few months....
.......the broodiness aspect notwithstanding.

Muscovies didn't come with her. He ended up keeping them and letting them hatch in his garage.

Mainly because my coop was not complete with nest box (was expanding old coop out) so she didn't have anywhere to sit, also since the eggs were so close to hatching I didn't want them to possibly die in the bumpy car ride
