I bought a dozen supposedly fertilized leghorn eggs to put under my broody hen. Today is day 22. One egg pipped yesterday, but the chick couldn't make it out of the egg. We've candled the remaining eggs and only 1 is fertile. But it hasn't pipped and I'm worried it won't.
This hen starting sitting on a Friday. The eggs weren't shipped until Monday and we received them to following Wednesday. So it's actually day 27 for the hen. I'm concerned for her health.
We live in Michigan between Ann Arbor and Jackson. Is there anyone within a distance I can drive to that has chicks hatching in an incubator soon? And would be willing to sell a couple? I would like to find some chicks young enough that I could put them under her and stop her brood.
Can anyone help?
