I have a year old broody. It think it’s been about 3 weeks now and she is still determined to sit, on nothing. A friend offered me some native pheasant eggs that we could then release the grown chicks to the wild. We can’t have any more full time chickens in our setup. Would it be bad for her health Give her some after she’s already been broody for 3 weeks? We keep taking her out of the nest and she keeps going back. Don’t have a wire bottomed cage to forced body temp to come down.

Some broody hens can go one until they are very sick and maybe even die.
If you want her to stop being broody, put her in “jail”, just put her in a dog crate and make sure she has food and water. You could give her the eggs although she might ditch them half way through be cause it’s been to long and she has been broody for too long and knows (thinks ) she won’t hatch anything out... it’s a 50/50... but I’m no expert so I may be wrong
Good luck!

To cool her body temp, you might try putting her in a cool bath, not ice cold, and not deep enough to drown. Something along the lines of a kiddy pool. Stay with her and use one hand to hold her and one to sort of bathe her breast and belly with. May take some repeat treatments, and watch her afterward so that she does not take a chill. Good luck!
