I have a Black Sex Linked hen named Harriet. She went broody also a week and a half ago, but I don't have fertilized eggs for her to sit on yet so I put her on a clutch of unfertilized eggs while I wait for the devlivery. The first day after I moved her to a different location seperate from the other hens, I had to take her off her nest and then she ran and ate and drank a bunch along with a big healthy poop. The second day, she did the same thing. On the third day, she ate a lot but no poop and didn't drink. On the fourth day, she ate just a little and didn't drink at all and didn't poop. Now it's the fifth day and she only ate and still no poop or drinking water. I'm super worried because she looks really skinny to me and she isn't even sitting on the real eggs yet (they come in tomorrow)!! I'm scared she is going to die!! She's super important to me and I don't want to lose her!

If you have any suggestions on how to get her to drink/eat/poop I'm all ears!
Also don't suggest putting food and water in her nest area, because once she's on her nest she is completly focused and wont take anything (even grapes!)

Thanks so much!!

You might have to take her somewhere else to snap her out of it and get her to eat and drink. The eggs (when they come) will be fine if she takes a 10-20 minute break. Take her out, put some food and water in front of her, and she should stretch her legs and take a break.

My girl was particularly stubborn today and stayed in broody stance even when I placed her on the wet gravel outside. However, after rubbing under her belly a bit and kind of pushing her to stand up, she got up and ran off to the other girls for a few minutes after getting a good drink of water. Wasn't very interested in the layer feed, but I put some in a red measuring cup in a corner of her nest so it's available if she needs it.
