broody hen with chicks

i have a hen that is sitting on eggs. i went to feed them and she got off of her eggs and 1 was piping. when they hatch should i move them to a chicken rance?she is with 14 other hens and i rooster]

Well, when my hen hatches chicks I don't move her and she does fine. However, I recommed you move them as soon as she gets up with all the chicks as you don't really want to disturb her too much now. In the future, moving her before she hatches out chicks is the best.

We've always waited til the chicks hatch before we move the mom, cause we didn't want to take the chance of disturbing her so much by moving her that she'd desert the eggs...anyway, we've done that twice, but, yeah, you want to move mom and chicks somewhere where they're warm and protected; not only from the others, but from predators and exposure. Pay attention, though, cause the mom may try to move em herself...that's what happened with our Uno chick and her moms...fortunately, they didn't get her too far before we found em. When Uno was about 6 weeks old, she and her stepmom joined the flock.
