Broody hen

She doesn't have to like it. I put them in and let them complain.

When you say no dry areas, is it because of rain storms? One of my breakers has a roof but if it's raining I kinda want that space for the rest of the flock to use to, so rain's always an issue for me when it comes to breaking. Do you have a shed or garage you can put the crate in during the day?

I have her in the coop in the crate.

She has water and food as well as two boards to sit on.

I will be making a roost for her today.

I could put her on my screen room, although I am not able to carry her back and forth to the run.

I don't even give mine roost because then they try to brood on those. Here's my set up. I have 1 who screams for 2 days becomes mad about not being able to sit. They get over it.

Haven't ever had one brood a 2x4...and it gives their feet a break from the wire floor.

Sometimes it takes them a bit to calm down.
I give them some scratch grain when I put them in, it can help distract them.

You can also put them in a separate coop/run where there are no nests or bedding.
@aart...That picture reminds me of Jane Eyre being forced to stand in the middle of the classroom at Lowood with "liar" on a sign around her neck! I can't stop giggling...
