How long does a hen stay broody?

I've been tossing her out of the nest box several times a day. Should I continue doing this or should I just leave her alone until she gives up?

I don't let her sit on eggs. My kids check the nest boxes about every hour.

This thread might help. Some people report success by doing what you are doing, but many don't.

Break a Broody Thread

Being broody is hard on a hen and some will stay broody for a very long time. How long depends on the individual hen. If you are not going to give her eggs to hatch, I think it is healthier in the long term for you to break the broody. I would not leave her until she decides on her own to quit.
