My chickens have started laying recently and there has been no problem. Today I go out there and one of my chickens is sitting in the nest box on the fake eggs so I think maybe she's just gotten in there and going to lay an egg. Well, after doing the chores I go back in there and she's still in there on the fake eggs and every now and then she'll look under her or around her like she's looking for something. I scooped her up and put her on the floor and she just stood there and when i moved over she started to get back in there. so i took her outside. She finally went to get a drink and i left but i'm afraid she's going to be back on it when i go out there.
This is typical behaivor for a chicken who's broody right? What do I do about it? Sorry for the rambling but if you read my other post i have also has a broke egg today and with me being new at this i'm a little stressed. Any info PLEASE.

Take a deep breath...relax.

If she's still there tonight she's probably going broody. Broodies will also usually fluff up and growl at you if you stick your hand in the nest. If she's broody get a couple of fertile eggs and stick them under her...they make great mommies! It's hard to break a broody once they start...the only thing that has worked for me is to put them in a different pen with chickens they don't know...they get so freaked out that they stop being broody. Good luck!

I'm about to integrate my other chickens in with her group. Do you think that might work?
