Hi I am Steve and I am from PA I have four hens and 0 roosters well one of my hens shes being "Broody" and I am looking for methods to make her stop please help me I am open to any suggestions. I am not 100% sure on what type of hens they are so far I believe they are some type of barnevelder mix. (If you have any ideas please let me know) But I read to dip them in cool water a few times and put her in a wire cage up high as uncomfortable as possible, and she stayed out of the nesting box for a bit but I found her back in it and really warm again. All help is great appreciated! Thanks Steve :)

I tried the wire bottom dog crate for about a week with my stubborn broody. Finally, I did the cold water method-it worked, but I had read that you need to hold them in the cold water for 5 minutes, and that is harder than it sounds. She was panicked and kept crying-I tried to comfort her, but she was scared. In the end it did work and I'm glad, but if I ever have to do it again-I will have my husband help me. It would go smoother, I think-better for me as well as the chicken. Good luck with whatever you try.

Thank you guys, another is starting to be broody so I took her out of the coop and just shut it. And the other one is in a wire cage I will put both of them into a wire cage ASAP and leave them there for a couple days
