About 4 days ago i noticed one of n=my hens had gone broody. She's a smaller thing. Not bantam size though. anyways Piper has been broody for like 4 days or so and I wanted to get her some fertilized eggs since sadly, I am a rooster-less operation. i gave her some golf balls to sit on for now and she seems happy with that. she's still in the coop because she hasn't been to much of a terrorist to my 2 other hens and they just squeeze in the box together. so how many eggs should i get her? I'm thinking 7 or 8. She also isn't as good of a mom as i would like her to be, but that could be partly my fault since i kick her off the nest 3 times a day to give her some food and water and make her take a little dust bath. i was thinking of getting her a few baby chicks from a friend and slipping them under her at night after about 20 days. is there like an age requirement for the chicks if i slip them under her? do they have to be a day old or can they be a week old or what? if this is a jumbled mess forgive me!
