I had a narrgasnet hen go broody on a nest I didn't know about. Is it getting to late in season to let her sit on it. I'm in MO and its getting up in the mid 90s for the highs. I'm new to turkeys so any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Do you have a shed or other enclosed location the hen and poults can be stashed in on the off chance of a Sept. freeze? If so, I'd not worry. Is the hen nesting in a predator free location?

I have a shed could put them in. Was more worried about the heat that usually comes in July. The nest is about 100 feet from house in fallen tree limbs. Other than owl problem awhile back no predator problems as of yet.

Thanks for the welcome.

During the day make sure she has clean water and some food nearby (they will leave nest briefly every few days to carry off bad eggs/eat/drink/dirt bathe). Do you have some coon traps set here and there? The population, in the Central part of the State is up this year (only took 5 last summer - summer of `12 - 26 - closer to avg.), coons are the worst as the hen will often just remain on the nest and be ripped apart - eggs carried off or eaten in place).
