Mrs. Feathers, has gone broody. She started in that extreme heat of days in row over 105. So I was hesitant to lock her in a cage anywhere. She has sat faithfully...

Then I got to thinking, well, I didn't get any meat birds in the spring, and I could have them when I move the cockerels out. AND Mrs. Feathers is getting some age on her, might not make the winter... won't have a broody hen if she goes... always like buff orpington, don't have one in the flock.

Yeah, 10 Cornish cross ordered, and 3 BO. Mrs. F will be happy, I am happy....and a bit crazy.

I have a love/hate relationship with chicken math...I told myself no new chickens this year. Then the manager at the feed store said she would sell me the bantams for $2 if I took the whole bin + my kids insisting their polish hen wanted polish friends + me wanting to test my new incubator + a broody hen=25 new chickens this year🤦 I'm sure I'll lie to myself again next year as well. My husband is probably asking around by now if there are any Crazy Chicken Lady Anonymous groups to send me to.
