How do you know a hen is broody. Especaily if you have buff orps and they all look the same?

There's a lot more, I know, and I'm a novice, but they stay in the nest box, are protective of the eggs when you try to take them out, and sit on the nest box... all day... every day. Let's try to get an expert here.
Hope this helps!

thanks I really cant tell it seems that 2 are always on the same nest and the ruffle feathers when I take their eggs. But I have 8 orps and all but one looks alike and they all lay eggs at different times of the day.

Are they still on the nest? A broody will ruffle her feathers from the top of her head down the neck and she'll growl. She might even try to peck at you...and you don't even have to have your hand under her for all of this. Most will pluck the feathers from their chest and if you feel underneath her, you'll feel her hot chicken skin. She'll feel especially warm.

check and see if she stays on the nest all night. If she does that instead of roosting I'd say she's broody.
