Broody hens?

I have a few broody hens that go on and off of being broody. I am wondering if I should risk putting eggs underneath them. Is there any way to "train" your broodies to make sure that they wont just drop being broody?

You should give them fake eggs/infertile eggs for a few days and that will tell you if they are serious. If they have been going on and off it could be because they are sitting on a empty nest.
