broody is on day 20...tick, tock, tick, tock

Ok, as the 80s band Europe once sang....its the final countdown.....
This is all new to me and my little sebright hen. She is sitting on a cochin/EE egg from her flockmate. She is inside in a dog crate. She has all the necessary amenities and left me a very neat, but, holy cow!!, smelly poop after her oatmeal/yogurt/raisin breakfast. At least it was not in the nice new nest I made for her and the new chick...but OY VEY! That smell was just awful!
So, when will the chick pip or zip or flip or strip? Again, its all new. Just exceited...and curious.

She'll probably hatch them out tomorrow...day 21. Just leave her be

Oh yes, the broody poo is nasty!! I have a broody as well and taking her out everyday to do her duty is always disgusting!

Thanks everyone. I almost wish we had more than one egg hatching. I guess my little EE roo needs to get busy

. I will be getting some eggs next week for bantam silver laced cochins. Now that will be fun!
I will post pics when the little peeper arrives.

You may want to get at least one more chick from someone or someplace because if you only have one chick hatch it is going to be lonely.

So I went to the broody room in our basement and that familiar smell was just outside the door....got my papertowels dipped in vanilla oil ready....I'm going in! Ew!

Cleaned that up while momma hooed and haaed about something. Looked in the nest....we have a pip people!
Just a matter of time now!
