I have a pullet that recently started laying. About a day earlier she disappeared and came back at night! The next day she hung around until noon, and repeated yesterday. I soon found that she was going into the old pheasnt coops and probably had a nest. I was wondering if this counted as broodyness since she dissapeares for so long! Thanks!

What does she act like when she is on the nest? Does she puff up and growl? If she is broody, she shouldn't be given fertile eggs since obviously she gets off for long periods of time. Normal broodies with the intent to hatch will not budge from the nest unless they absolutely have to. They will growl and freak out when someone or something disturbs them.
