Howdy Y'all!
This is my first post, I am a new member!
I am not sure exactly how this forum works, so please bear with me.
Other threads have similar titles, but none answer my question.
One of my hens went broody a couple weeks ago. One week ago, another one went broody, so I checked online and learned about a wire cage rehab strategy to bring down their belly temp and to keep them away from their nests.
This worked brilliantly for the girl who went broody first, she is running around doin chicken stuff. The other lady is not eating, or growling at me, or drinking water, even when I put her nose in it.
I feel like maybe I mistook a sick chicken for a broody one? The fact that she doesn't puff up and growl when I touch her or pick her up, has me concerned. Today I put her in the yard to see if maybe she would be a chicken again, but she just stayed where I put her down, with her head low, and without even stretching her legs to stand or get comfortable.
I am hoping she is just stubbornly broody, and she will come around in a day or two, but I am worried that if I wait to see if she'll be ok and she is sick, it will be too late for her.
Please help,
Thanks,
Jody
