If you have a broody hen how does one "force" her out of broodyness. The question got me thinking about my childhood, I know my parents did but how? Thanks Johnny

Hi Johnny!

2 of our girls went broody on us awhile back, just as it was starting to cool off here. I used a prefab cage as a broody breaker aka "chicken jail". I didn't want either one to set eggs at the time as I had no place to keep them seperated from the rest of the flock and didn't want to be brooding indoors over the winter. (have 4 mutt babies in a brooder from my bator test run, so much for not raising any indoors for the winter...

).

Here's my breaking a broody post from the banty Mottled Cochin episode. No sooner got her broke and one of our blue Silkies followed suit.

Hope this is some help!
