I have a broody that I don't want to be broody because we have another mamma with 10 chicks (5 hens and 5 roosters, talk about 50/50 chance:gig), I tried everything :barnie putting her in water, kicking her off the nest when ever she was on it, I don't have a wire cage so I couldn't do that. I was thinking of buying some chicks for her then giving her to the auction, but she is a Black Copper Maran and is very valuable in our flock, anyone have advice :fl

It is worth buying/finding a wire cage even if you have to buy one new. Do you have a raccoon trap? That's what I used the first year. Go to yard sales, flea mall, thrift stores. It is well worth buying one. You will use it over and over.
I got this cage for $5 at a thrift store....

I was wondering what if I breed my Turkey and put the fertile eggs under her... but the problem is I don't have a tom, or have the room for one. My friend has a tom but not the right breed and I wanted to show the turkeys any ideas??

The reason a hen goes broody is because that's what it is designed to do and what we "think" is "proper" behaviour is just fighting against natural instincts.

You should be glad for a hen like that, they're getting harder to find. Whenever I have a chance I actually breed chickens to promote that trait.

My two cents :plbb

Absolutely!! It's very rare to find a broody hen....I've had over 100 button quail I've incubated,my Zoey is the first one that's ever sat on her eggs (if she is an integral part of your flock) I would assume her progeny would inherit that as well.
I'm breeding my Zoey to my roo...I'm hoping her broody DNA passes down to her daughters.
