Hey guys, does anybody know if black australorps are broody?

Yes they can go broody. Breeding will often dictate whether a particular hen will go broody or not.

x2. It really depends on the line. My parents had five (Cackle?), one of which went broody every summer. Never hatched anything, due to mismanagement. My six girls (Ideal, I think?) have never gone broody.

Mine went broody three times last summer

No idea what lines she’s from. I adore her so next time I may just get some fertile eggs and let her hatch some chicks.

I got 3 BA's from Murray McMurray back in 2014...one of those was an almost non-stop broody.

So yes, they certainly can be broody!

No, she wasn't. I re-homed her with another BA to a friend that wanted to increase the size of her flock.

Almost any breed can go broody....doesn't mean they will tho.
