I know I ask a lot about Sex-Links, I love the breed, and have a lot of questions. So...Brown Sex-Links. I always thought they were another name for Red Sex-Links, but when I cam across a picture of some, I realized they looked nothing like them. More like Black Sex-Links, actually. So...what kind of cross are they?

Actually Brown Sex Link is one of a number of labels used by hatcheries for Red Sex Links which are produced by crossing a red gene rooster with a silver gene hen. The "Brown Sex Link" label may vary somewhat in which red gene roosters and silver gene hens are used, but Ideal Poultry, which is the biggest producer of Red Sex Links under the "Brown Sex Link" label uses Rhode Island Red roosters X silver factor White Rock hens for its "Brown Sex Links" (http://www.idealpoultry.com/item.html). There is an article on Brown Sex Links with a picture at https://www.rightpet.com/livestock-poultrydetail/brown-sex-link-chicken.

Thanks! I think I was just confused by Ideal Poultry's description of them.
