Hi,

I have a chance to purchase some brown turkey poults and I was doing research and was reading that browns don't produce many fertilized eggs. The article stated that their eggs were fertilized for the first week of the season only and the rest of the eggs were not fertile. Hard to believe but that's why I'm asking. Thanks for your info.

If by brown you mean Chocolates I am not aware of any general fertility issues. It is always possible that someone has a bloodline that does have significant fertility issues but by definition it would be hard to propagate so it is probably rare.

Hi Longranger,

Thanks for the reply. It was an article written in 1999 and the author said it was a specific bloodline but he made the generalization that the fertility issue was for all chocolate turkeys. I have some time so I think I'll try them and see what happens next spring.

We have chocolates and there is no difference in fertility through out the laying season compared to the other varieties we raise.
