Brown / White egg layers

I have a dozen Rhode Island Reds, and a dozen Barred Rocks. They are all about 8 months old, and have been laying for a couple of months. One of them has layed a white egg twice this week. Up until this point they have all been brown. Is this common?

I have barred rocks and every now and again, I get a whitish egg--got one yesterday. It' not a true white, but definitely not brown. don't know about RIRs, but it happens with my BRs.
