Bucket Feed is the be-all end-all? So much waste!

One key may be what type of feed is in the feeder. I use pellets in mine and never get any waste.

With “crumble” short of wetting the food I’m not sure there’s much that can be done about waste.

As soon as chicks are old enough to eat pelleted feed, I make the switch for this very reason.

I have a couple of these and I hang them so the bottom is about 6" off the ground. I give them a half hour of access to the buckets in the morning and evening; the rest of the day, they clean up what they spilled and then go forage through 6 acres of pasture grass.
What kind of bucket is that? (The green one)

I don't know, it's a feeder that I bought at a yard sale; they're everywhere here in central Texas. I'm not close to home right now but I can take a pic of the manufacturer's label when I get back.

In case you were still wondering.

Superbowl Bucket Feeder

It's expensive for what it is. You might be able to find it cheaper elsewhere...

But with some craftiness and a trip to the hardware store, you could make something equivalent for much less.
I got 3 for $10 at a yard sale at a farm. I didn't know that I was robbing the lady at the time, though, lol.

I have a bucket feeder as well & found they do still find ways to spill/waste some of the feed. I have a scissor beak hen so I feed crumbles, I imagine pellets would be less messier but that's not really an option for me right now. My solution; I bought a large, shallow feed pan and placed directly underneath the bucket. Now, everything that falls goes directly into the feed pan. I simply dump the feed pan back into the bucket every few days. Virtually no waste. 🤷‍♀️
