buckeye chickens

I just ordered buckeye chickens from ideal hatchery. can't wait to get them but not until next month since they are sold out until then. they are a rare breed and dual purpose bird from ohio and pretty too.

What color eggs do these beauties lay? And where were you able to find? Oops! Ideal. Did you have to order a bunch?

We have 14 8-week-olds right now and they are an awesome breed! We ordered ours through Welp (drop shipped from Privett).

We ordered a few rare breeds since we want to eventually breed our own to help sustain the breed. But, we figured we would "test" the breeds we were interested in before we move to larger property. At that point, we 'll go through a breeder. Buckeye's are DEFINITELY on our list of keepers! Great personalities, outgoing and friendly AND apparently they are mousers too.
