Quick question, is it normal for a cockerels knees to bend in like this? Is this an undesired trait that shouldn't be bred?
Thanks in advance

I would wait until it's done growing before judging it. It could just be going through a growth spurt.

Watch to make sure it's moving normally too. Things like Mareks can start in the legs.

Make sure also that you are still feeding a good fresh grower as sometimes old feed can cause deficiencies which can cause legs to twist, and tendons to slip.

Thank you, he actually is an adult now, he's just super clumsy with his feet so struggles to mate with any hens, I was wondering if it was because of the buckled knees he had as a chick.
I am asking because I am looking at buying a good quality cockerel off someone but when I saw the photos I noticed the knees doing the same thing, maybe it's common and totally normal but I don't want to buy another clumsy rooster, I want to get it right this time

These are of the same boy now, the legs aren't buckled so much anymore but yeah he's super clumsy with his feet and isn't good at breeding and trips over himself a lot. Or maybe he's just getting too heavy for his legs. I don't know, whatever the case I've decided to give up trying to breed him and get a better quality roo

Ah I get it. Bigger roosters can be a bit clumsy. That can be a lot of bulk running on two legs. I'm not a Wyandotte expert so I can't help with what is correct, but I would think with any breed good straight legs is a plus. Not too many breeders are on BYC that I have seen like they used to be so I'm unsure if anyone will add their opinion or not.

Your rooster turned into a handsome boy. All my hatchery Wyandotte roosters were a bit clumsy and I didn't keep any long term as they weren't working out.

Hopefully your next rooster will be better.
