Our Buff Orpington rooster loves taking care of our RedSexLink hens. We had a broody hen so we let her hatch some eggs God's way.

One of them turned out to be this MASSIVE and handsome rooster. He is bigger than his daddy by a long shot and only 28 weeks old.

(The hen of the same cross is right behind him)

He is growing to grow into a beauty. Hopefully he will not challenge his father.
We have 30 hens. It seems they have learned to give each other space. But he often does sleep outside of the coop, which worries me a little if it gets cold or stormy... But hasn't happened yet.

He has recruited a few ladies to join him in the other shelters...

it's weird that he has a pea comb since neither of the parent breed should have one(the white tail shows that its a production type red sex linked hen), any chance that he is the son of another hen?

We purchased all 24 hens at the same time...

Not sure what's up

What is actually odd is that this guy's comb is bigger than his dad's. The dad rooster is only about a year old and his comb is very very small.

Any chance dad is a Buff Brahma, or at least has some in the mix? I have a Buff Brahma and Buff Orpington mix hen, she's our biggest bird currently. Just a thought based off the comb observation.

It's a Buff Chantecler, OP said the F1 rooster's comb is smaller than his sire comb

this is the comb of the Chentecler
